About Medical Bill Pushback
Medical Bill Pushback exists to give people a clear, do-it-yourself path to disputing, reducing, and fighting unfair and inflated medical bills — and to protect the money and rights the law gives them — without automatically handing a law firm or paid service a cut.
Why this site
When people run into unfair medical bills, most don't know their options or their rights. When they search for help, they mostly find marketing from firms selling paid services. Almost no one just hands you the plain-English steps and the templates to act yourself. That is the gap this site fills.
Who runs it
My name is Andrea. I research and write every guide here and keep them updated. I am not a law firm, a medical billing company, an insurer, or a government agency, and this site is not affiliated with any of them — it is an independent, consumer-first resource.
How the content is made
Each guide is built from primary sources: the federal No Surprises Act, CMS and HHS guidance, standard hospital billing and financial-assistance (charity care) rules, and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Where a rule, limit, or deadline varies by state or by your situation — and it almost always does — we say so and point you to where to confirm it. Our guides are drafted with the assistance of AI tools and are then reviewed and edited by a human editor, Andrea Papa, who holds editorial responsibility for what we publish; we publish only after human review.
Editorial independence
We are not paid by the companies or agencies our readers deal with, and we do not take a cut of anything. The site is supported by advertising. Our goal is simple: help you understand your rights and act on them yourself.
Important
Everything here is general information, not legal or financial advice, and no outcome is guaranteed. Rules and deadlines vary and can change — always verify with your itemized bill and Explanation of Benefits, your hospital's financial-assistance policy, your state department of insurance, or a licensed attorney.
